The Problem With Most Swim Schools

Your Child Deserves Better Than "Fun" Lessons That Take Years

Most parents have already tried swim lessons that promise results but lead to frustration.

You enroll your child at a corporate swim school. Months or even years go by, and they haven't mastered basic safety swimming skills and they cannot swim independently.

That is not your fault. Many programs are built to keep kids enrolled and prioritize "fun" over real skill.

The result is years of lessons, little progress, and a child still at risk around water.

Endless Lessons, Slow Progress

Big swim schools want to keep you enrolled forever. Level after level without real skills.

Too Much Support

Instructors hold children constantly. Kids never learn to move independently in the water.

"Fun" Over Safety

Prioritizing entertainment means survival skills get ignored. Games are not the same as life-saving technique.

Inexperienced Instructors

Most swim schools use inexperienced instructors who are passive — they're evaluated on whether the kids are not crying rather than whether they're doing a good job, making it hard for your child to become a confident swimmer.

We Do Things Differently

At Intuitive Swimming, we focus on life-saving skills first. We teach kids how to swim intuitively — this is the foundation to developing a stroke, and their strokes will work better because they'll be more relaxed. Inexperienced instructors don't get results because they waste a lot of time. We do not waste time. Our instructors can get more repetitions in 10 minutes than most inexperienced instructors can get in half an hour. With over 3,000 students taught and 11 years of experience, we deliver real results that keep your child safe around water.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your Questions, Answered

Everything you need to know before getting started.

Safety is our top priority. Each child completes a medical and developmental intake before beginning lessons. Instruction is closely monitored, individualized, and adjusted daily based on your child's physical and emotional readiness. We follow strict safety protocols designed to support learning while protecting your child's well-being.
Young children learn motor skills best through short, frequent practice rather than occasional longer lessons. The 15-minute structure allows skills to be introduced, practiced, and reinforced without fatigue or overstimulation. Short lessons also support attention span, body temperature regulation, and overall learning efficiency. This is why we recommend two to three lessons weekly.
Lessons are designed for children 6 months and older, once they are developmentally ready to participate. Starting early allows children to learn water safety skills during the most effective years for motor learning. Readiness is evaluated individually and discussed with families before enrollment.
Every child progresses at a different pace. Many children demonstrate reliable water safety skills within 4 to 6 weeks, while others may require 6 to 8 weeks depending on age, development, and individual readiness. We never rush progression; instruction is guided by your child's needs.
Parents do not enter the water during lessons. This allows children to develop independent responses without relying on parental cues. As your child progresses, you may be invited into the pool near the end of a session to learn how to safely practice skills at home. Parents remain present, supportive, and engaged throughout every lesson.
No. We encourage parents to stay and observe. Calm, consistent parental presence supports learning and helps your child feel secure in a new environment.
Some children may fuss or cry during early lessons as they adjust to a new environment and new skills. This response typically decreases as children become more confident and familiar with the process. Instruction is always guided by your child's readiness and well-being.
No. There is no such thing as "drown-proof." Our lessons provide an important layer of protection, but active supervision and water safety measures are always required. Survival skills are one part of a comprehensive approach to drowning prevention.
Yes. As children grow, their bodies, coordination, and strength change. Periodic refresher sessions help children recalibrate existing skills to their new size and abilities. The frequency of refreshers varies by age, growth, and water exposure.
Please reach out through our contact form or schedule a consultation call. We are happy to answer any questions before you enroll.
